Restaurants With Gluten-Free Menus in Hillsborough, North Carolina

Restaurants With Gluten-Free Menus in Hillsborough, North Carolina

Cities local to Hillsborough, North Carolina, have some restaurants that feature special gluten-free menus for individuals with Celiac disease. In addition to providing a variety of options, these restaurants are also trained in the measures necessary to ensure food meant for Celiac customers will not be contaminated by food that has gluten.

Carinos Italian Grill

Carino's Italian grill has a special menu for guests who have Celiac disease; it's located less than fifteen minutes from Hillsborough. This menu lists several gluten free-options, including shrimp scampi, Caesar salad, roasted garlic soup, rosemary chicken, chicken marsala, grilled citrus balsalmic salmon, jalepeno garlic tilapia, Italian pot roast and chicken scallopini.

For many of these items, there are adjustments that need to be made when ordering. For example, if ordering the chicken marsala, it is essential to notify the server that the chicken must be cooked without the flour; it's necessary to state that green beans, potatoes or garlic spinach need to be substituted for the pasta.

Outback Steakhouse, located about twelve minutes from Hillsborough, has a specialty gluten-free menu for its guests with Celiac disease. Appetizers include seared ahi tuna or grilled shrimp on the barbie. There are several salad options, like the filet wedge or Queensland salads. For the main course, choices abound. There's Alice Springs Chicken, ribs, lamb, pork tenderloin, salmon, lobster tails (only available in certain markets) and crab. Of course, there are several steaks, as well. The Victoria Filet, ribeye and prime ribs are only some of the options. In addition to dinner, Outback also offers drinks like the Wallaby Darned, the Sangria 'Rita and the Captain's Mai Tai. Finally, for dessert, there's the Chocolate Thunder from Down Under, a gluten-free pecan brownie topped with ice cream, chocolate sauce, whipped cream and chocolate shavings. Order it sinful, and they'll roll the ice cream in coconut.

Servers will need special instructions for some items, e.g., no croutons on the salads, no seasoning on grilled items and and substitute any Aussie fries with a baked potato.
