Gluten Allergy Symptoms

Gluten allergies are not rare; there are many people who have mild gluten allergies who fail to realize it. There are multiple symptoms that can signal a gluten allergy.

What is Gluten?

    According to WiseGeek, gluten is a protein that is consumed in rye, wheat, and barley products.

What is Gluten Found In?

    Gluten is found in any product that uses rye, wheat, and barely. This includes cereal, bread, pasta and beer.

Mild Symptoms

    According to Allergy Symptoms, some mild symptoms of a gluten allergy include diarrhea, constipation and fatigue. Some other mild symptoms include skin problems/rashes and irritability.

Serious Symptoms

    Gluten allergies can be more serious and, if not taken care of, can be fatal. This can include respiratory problems and throat problems but can also include issues such as Crohn's disease and abdominal bloating.

Treatment

    The only way to avoid gluten allergies is to avoid foods that have gluten in them. A gluten-free diet is not too difficult; more and more foods are being advertised as gluten-free to ensure that those with gluten allergies have options.
