Vegan Restaurants in DC

The D.C. area features a wide array of options of vegetarian restaurants, and a few all-vegan restaurants. Most of these also have raw and gluten-free options, as well as a commitment to sustainability in their practices. A few are award-winning; all of them will ensure you never miss full flavor.

Cafe Green

    Cafe Green is dedicated to the principles not only vegan, but also organic, fair trade-based and green. To-go items are served in biodegradable corn containers, and Cafe Green is a member of the Clean Energy Partnership, which purchases 100 percent of its power from wind power.

    Featured on Cafe Green's menu are a wide range of soy-based meat-imitation sandwiches, as well as a gluten-free tofu-based sandwiches served on either gluten-free bread or wraps. Cafe Green also boasts a raw menu that features such yummy deserts as Raw Blueberry Cheesecake and Raw Chocolate brownies. Cafe Green is only open on weekdays.

Soul Vegeterian Cafe

    A unique market and restaurant, Soul Vegetarian provides soul food with a vegan twist. In addition to being a vegan restaurant, Soul Vegetarian is also kosher and serves only organic food. Soul Vegetarian was originally founded in 1983 and has opened 14 locations worldwide. It has been the recipient numerous awards for "excellence in nutritional cuisine and stellar service."

Senbeb Cafe

    Located in the upper Northwest area of D.C. and close to the Takoma Metro station, Senbeb is a quick cafe that features sandwiches, raw foods and daily specials. Senbeb cafe does not have a website.
